"Neftchi" had a great fight in the cup, as well as in the championship this season. In the first two rounds, Baku easily eliminated OIK Goyazen (1: 1, + :-) and Agdash Shirvan-Orkhan (3: 0, + :-).  

Neftchi suffered its first defeat in the quarterfinals against Kapaz - 0: 1. In extra time of the return match, Rasim Abushov's goal (before that Yashar Vahabzadeh opened the score) took our team to the semifinals. Meetings with the "Baku worker" at this stage were marked not only by tension but also by scandal. Neftchi, the nominal host, played a draw in the first match between the home walls - 1: 1. Both sides prepared more diligently for the return meeting. However, Neftchi was able to pass the ball twice before the break. It was the second goal that caused a great deal of controversy. "Baku worker" refused to continue the second part of the game and "Neftchi" reached the final.     

Here, the team won the cup for the second time in a row, defeating Agdam "Karabakh" with a big score (3: 0) and for the first time in its history signed a "golden double".
