Yuri Vernidub: “Our aim is to be at the top”

“Neftçi” PFK head coach Yuri Vernidub answered journalists’ questions at the press conference following the team’s Round 8 Misli Premier League match against Qarabağ.

“These things happen in football. Sometimes a 0–3 lead turns into a 3–3 draw, and sometimes you lose 3–4. The main thing is to learn from these mistakes and work on correcting them. We needed to win this match, even away from home, but unfortunately, that is how it turned out. Nobody wants to lose a derby. In Azerbaijan, matches between Neftçi and Qarabağ are considered derbies. This shows that we are on the right track, and we will continue working to make Neftçi even stronger. We will always fight until the very end. Our aim is to be at the top. To be honest, we have dropped four points in our last two matches.”
