Welcome, Adeleke Akinyemi!

“Neftçi” have signed a new forward. Our club have completed the signing of Nigerian striker Adeleke Akinyemi from Finnish side Gnistan.

The centre-forward, who has previously played in various European leagues, has shown particularly strong development over the past three years. Two years ago, Akinyemi won a silver medal in Finland with Ilves, securing qualification for the UEFA Europa League. This season, Adeleke has featured in all 22 of Gnistan’s league matches.

The forward, who was the top scorer in Latvia’s top flight in 2017, has also demonstrated his goalscoring ability at Gnistan. Akinyemi has scored 13 goals in the ongoing Veikkausliiga season and currently leads the competition’s scoring charts.

The 28-year-old completed his medical today before signing a two-year contract with “Neftçi”, with an option for a further year. He will wear the No. 26 shirt for our team.
