Aqil Mammadov was born on May 1, 1989, in the village of Abragunus of the Julfa district of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. A graduate of “Baku”, Mammadov, besides this club, has played as a goalkeeper for “Neftchi”, AZAL, “Gabala”, as well as for the Azerbaijan national team and the U-21 national team. He has won the Azerbaijan championship twice and the national cup twice.
Aqil Mammadov, who ended his football career at the age of 33 at “Neftchi”, began his coaching career at the “Neftchi” Football Academy.
He holds a UEFA “C” category coaching license.
