Yuri Vernydub: "We Must Analyse the Match and Learn from It So We Don't Repeat These Mistakes"

Neftçi PFK head coach Yuri Vernydub spoke to the media after his side's first-leg match against Dinamo Minsk in the UEFA Conference League second qualifying round:

"We made too many mistakes, and our opponents capitalised on them to score. The game changed after the 20th minute. Emil Balayev was playing through an injury, and that probably contributed to the goal we conceded. We also started the second half by conceding again. Every goal came as a result of our own mistakes. Even after conceding, we created chances, but if you don't take them, your opponents will.

We need to analyse the match and draw the right conclusions so that we don't repeat these mistakes again. It wouldn't be right to blame the players – first and foremost, I take responsibility. We will prepare thoroughly for the second leg. We are still capable of progressing, and it is possible. Dinamo also lost the first leg in the previous qualifying round before winning the return match on penalties and advancing."
