“Neftçi” made debut in European Cups in 1995/96 season. On August 10, 1995, “White-blacks” lost to APOEL (Cyprus, 0:3) in UEFA Cup Winners' Cup 1st leg match in away. 2nd leg match ended with draw on August 24 - 0:0.

Flagman got first European Cup victory next season. On July 17, 1996, our team got victory against “Lokomotiv” (Bulgaria) in UEFA Cup in Baku - 2:1.

“Neftçi” reached 2nd Qualifying Round of European Cups for the first time in 2004/05 season. Our team lost to “Široki Brijeg” (Bosnia and Herzegovina, 1:2) in UEFA Champions League away match on July 13, 2004, then got victory (1:0) in 2nd leg match on July 21 and qualified to next round.

“White-blacks” passed 2nd Qualifying Round for the first time in 2008. In UEFA Intertoto Cup, “Neftçi” defeated Slovakian “Nitra” (2:0, 1:3) and Belgian “Germinal” (1:1, 1:0) and became finalist.

Flagman achieved greatest success in European Cups in 2012/13 season. That season, our team qualified to group stage of UEFA Europa League for the first time in Azerbaijani football history. “White-blacks” drew with APOEL (Cyprus, 1:1) in Baku in UEFA Europa League Play-off Round on August 23, 2012 and made a historic first victory on August 31 in away - 3:1. In group stage, “Neftçi” played against Italian “Inter” (1:3, 2:2), Serbian “Partizan” (0:0, 1:1) and Russian “Rubin” (0:1, 0:1).

In total, “Neftçi” played 82 matches in European cups. Our team got 26 victories, 36 defeats, and drew 20 times. Goal difference is 95-127.
