The first Azerbaijan Super Cup was held on the initiative of Sahar newspaper .  

The champion "Neftchi" met the winner of the national cup "Inshaatchi" (Baku). "Inshaatchi" opened the score in the 18th minute of the match, which took place on February 21 at the Sumgayit city stadium named after Mehdi Huseynzade . But the joy of the goal lasted only 1 minute: Samir Alakbarov equalized. The team led by head coach Sergei Kramarenko continued their attacks. As a result, Nurali Asadov scored in the 35th minute, and Samir Alakbarov 5 minutes later . After the break, the flagship, who controlled the game , put an end to the match with the goal of Mais Azimov 3 minutes before the end.            

Thus, "Neftchi" won with a score of 4:1 and became the winner of the first Super Cup.
